Last week, we were proud to attend the launch of the Tai ar y Cyd initiative alongside social landlords, the Welsh Government, and construction industry experts.
A partnership for progress
The project brings together 23 housing associations who share a common goal of providing affordable, high-quality but low-carbon homes in Wales – and we’re on board!
These homes are designed to meet the highest standards of low-carbon performance, guided by a pattern book featuring designs for 15 types of houses, including wheelchair-accessible bungalows.
Benefiting people and the planet
Here are five ways the initiative will create positive change:
- The homes in the pattern book will be built using natural materials, including timber sourced from Welsh forests, which will reduce carbon emissions
- By embracing cutting-edge building techniques and reducing emissions, tenants will save money on energy bills
- The designs and methods specified in the design guide should speed up the building process, so homes can be built at a faster rate
- Using local resources will benefit our economy, creating green jobs and training opportunities
- The designs meet Welsh Housing Quality Standards
