This year, we were nominated for a Welsh Housing Award in two categories – Community Income Team and Young Achiever in Housing.
We were thrilled that our repairs company, LLanw, won the award for best campaign. Although we didn’t win an award, we had a fantastic time celebrating being recognised for the hard work we do.
Spotlight on Louisa, Young Achiever in Housing nominee
Congratulations to Louisa Thomas, who was nominated for the Young Achiever in Housing award. Louisa is one of our Community Housing Partners, and her work has a real impact on our tenants’ lives.
Jacqueline Thomas, a Valleys to Coast tenant, said:
“I first spoke to Louisa in 2023 after making enquiries about the constant use of the electric heaters in communal areas of my accommodation. Louisa made tenants aware that we were all being charged for their use in our communal area and so far this year they’ve not been turned on by other tenants at all.
“On another occasion, I reported an incident at the property and Louisa visited within an hour. She made further contact with me and carried out a risk assessment, advising me how to respond to these scenarios should they occur again. I felt very supported and reassured. She also arranged for a contractor to visit the accommodation to clean up.
“Louisa is easy to approach and talk to. She tries to help with any problems and makes an effort in a friendly and helpful way. Louisa has an exceptionally good attitude to her work and to us tenants. She listens to our concerns and much more importantly, takes action.
“She’s made us happier by making our accommodation a better environment and making it enjoyable to live in a Valleys to Coast property. I definitely feel more confident dealing with housing-related issues now.”
Thank you Louisa for all of the hard work you do!
