This year, we’ve entered ourselves into the Welsh Housing Awards in two categories, and we’ve been shortlisted for both.
The Welsh Housing Awards celebrate the creativity, passion, and innovation of housing organisations and individuals across Wales. It’s a fantastic recognition of the work we do to provide homes where people feel happy and safe.
Community Income Team – Housing Team of the Year
First up, we nominated our Community Income Team for the Housing Team of the Year, and they’ve been shortlisted! This team has been proactive in anticipating challenges our tenants may face, like the impact of the removal of the Winter Fuel Payment on elderly tenants. In response, they are developing a proactive support project to help those over the state pension age manage their rent during the colder months. Their dedication is a perfect example of how we go the extra mile to ensure our tenants feel secure and supported in their homes.
Louisa Thomas – Young Achiever in Housing Award
Our second nomination is for Louisa Thomas, who has been shortlisted for the Young Achiever in Housing Award. Louisa’s quick thinking and leadership were on full display when recent floods affected homes in Bridgend. As the on-call Community Housing Partner, she took charge, personally visiting and speaking with all 12 customers impacted by the floods. Louisa coordinated alternative accommodation for those who needed it, ensuring everyone had a safe and warm place to stay. Her dedication shines through in moments like these, and we’re proud to see her efforts recognised.
What’s Next?
We’ll be joining other housing people on 12th December, when the winners will be announced. Fingers crossed we take home some wins on the night!
