Thank you to those of you who attended last month’s Open House event where we spoke to you about our ongoing efforts to transition 31 of our homes from gas to electric, as part of our larger commitment to decarbonisation, sustainability, and energy efficiency.

We had eight families attend over the two days—slightly fewer than we expected from the 31 households invited. Although we would have liked to see more attendance, the positive interactions with those who did attend made it a valuable experience. Most customers were enthusiastic about the project, and while there were a few concerns, we were able to address them during the visit.

Overview of Feedback

Here’s a quick summary of the feedback from the eight households that attended.

Positives:

  • Many customers were very receptive to the new system and are excited about moving forward with the installation.
  • The opportunity to see the system in action and ask questions was greatly appreciated. This hands-on experience helped address concerns and build confidence in the project.
  • Several customers felt reassured after their questions were answered, and most left with a positive view of the upcoming changes.

Concerns Raised:

  • Some customers were concerned about the level of disruption the installation might cause and how it would affect their daily routines or current living conditions.
  • Issues such as potential higher bills, the effectiveness of the heating system, and the space taken up by the new equipment were points of worry for a few attendees.
  • There were concerns about how the new system might impact existing issues like dampness or mould in some homes.
  • For assisted living properties, there were worries about the disruption the work might cause to residents, with suggestions to schedule work during respite periods.
  • Questions about potential fire risks and storage loss were raised, with some seeking alternative solutions for battery storage and tank size.

We also want to thank those who provided feedback on Facebook. Your questions and comments on our post were incredibly valuable, and we appreciate your engagement and insights.

For those who couldn’t attend the Open House, we have a video showcasing the new radiators and what they look like. Additionally, our surveyor, Anthony Davies, who is leading this project, has answered some of the questions raised during the event.

Despite a few initial concerns, the feedback from our customers was overwhelmingly positive. Many appreciated the chance to visit the property, see the new system in action, and have their questions answered directly. The event helped alleviate most concerns, and customers left feeling reassured and confident about the project.

We’re excited to keep pushing forward with these efforts, and once again, we sincerely thank everyone for attending!
