We know how important it is to have safe and happy places, as well as homes. So, wherever we can, we gear into action to address waste issues and anti-social behaviour in our communities.
One of our communities facing significant challenges was Jubilee Crescent, an estate in Sarn with 143 homes and ongoing concerns over residents’ mental health and well-being, along with fly-tipping and arson issues.
So, we sprung into action, getting local residents and key partners on board to create something truly special – a project that has made a lasting positive impact on the community.
Here’s a glimpse of the incredible efforts that went into the Jubilee Crescent Springs into Action project:
- We held a number of events to engage with the community and form meaningful partnerships with local organisations.
- We arranged skip days and litter-picking events to clean up the area and encourage community participation, including school children to create a sense of ownership and pride in the community.
- Together we planted trees and created raised beds with native pollinators that have been pivotal in transforming the local environment.
The results of these actions have been amazing:
- Residents are now using and enjoying the revitalised open spaces.
- The community feels safer, and new bonds have been formed among neighbours.
- There has been a significant decrease in litter and fly-tipping, contributing to a cleaner environment.
- Our collaborative efforts have eradicated arson incidents.
- We have established new groups, ensuring ongoing community support and activities.
Another amazing result is that this project has been recognised by the Chartered Institute of Housing’s best practice compendium, highlighting the success and the positive change it has brought to Jubilee Crescent.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to ‘Jubilee Crescent Springs into Action’.
