As June arrives, many organisations display rainbow-coloured logos as a sign of support for equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and the celebration of our unique differences. This year, we want to go beyond just changing our logo and make a real impact by actively getting involved, educating ourselves, and supporting our LGBTQ+ community.
Bridgend’s Pride Event
On Saturday, June 1st, our team proudly participated in the Bridgend Pride event at the Red Dragon in Litchard. Colleagues from across the organisation came together with the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate diversity, equality, and inclusion.
At the event, we engaged with community members to understand how we can better support our customers in their homes and communities. Our discussions highlighted our commitment to making our workplace LGBTQ+ friendly through several initiatives, including:
- Establishing a Colleague EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) Forum.
- Implementing policies that ensure fair treatment for all.
- Organising learning sessions about LGBTQ+ issues.
- Inviting LGBTQ+ speakers to share their experiences.
- Offering flexible benefits that support the LGBTQ+ community.
- Providing LGBTQ+ pin badges to signify identity or solidarity.
We also used this opportunity to gather valuable EDI information to help tailor our services more effectively. Additionally, we raised funds for the Terrence Higgins Foundation, the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity, by offering glitter tattoos.
What else are we doing throughout June?
Monday, June 17th
We will host our EDI Forum where we’ve invited all colleagues to participate and contribute new perspectives and experiences to our EDI roadmap. We’d love to hear our customer voices as part of our work in this forum – do you have an experience you’d like to share with us? Drop an email to customervoice@v2c.org.uk
Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23
We’re encouraging everyone to participate in the annual Pride Cymru march in Cardiff. More details are available on the Pride Cymru website.
We believe in welcoming everyone, no matter who they are or who they love. We look forward to celebrating our differences and working together to support the LGBTQ+ community.
