Extra care scheme, Llys Ton, celebrated its tenth anniversary back in 2021, and after a year of waiting until it was safe to do so, residents were finally able to celebrate.
Our Community Living team hosted celebrations; from games of bingo to afternoon tea, and, of course, cake! Residents were each given a “Sweetheart” plant, also known as Hoya Kerrii, to mark the occasion; profiles of the scheme’s residents were dotted around the room, and friends and families were invited to come along and listen to residents share their memories of Llys Ton.
The scheme is Valleys to Coast’s only extra care scheme, and our colleagues have worked hard to ensure that the sense of community remains strong, especially following the long periods of isolation as a result of the COVID lockdowns. Last year, the Community Living team hosted Christmas in July, or ‘Summermas’, as residents weren’t able to be together during the festive season. They also held an event to celebrate the re-opening of the communal restaurant, which you can watch a video about here.
