What better way to celebrate the end of winter than planting 30 blossom trees ready for summer.
It was pretty cold when we got out the shovels, to plant 30 cherry blossom trees in local sheltered schemes. Working alongside Brian Jones from Keep Wales Tidy, our Corporate Service Team brightened up schemes around Bridgend with the cherry trees, donated by CFH Docmail Limited, who provide our in-house mailing system.
Craig Wadley, one of our apprentices said: “It’s nice to give something back, brighten up our community and the trees will hopefully be enjoyed by future generations.”
Trees that couldn’t be put in that day went to the community project known as Caerau Community Growers.
Andrew Penny, our Housing plus worker said: “I just wanted to say a big thank you to those of you who were able to come to Hafan Deg this morning to plant cherry trees! On behalf of everyone at Hafan Deg, your efforts are very much appreciated.”
